In the shadow of the diplomatic crisis between the two countries, Turkey’s President and Prime Minister hosted a delegation of Jewish American leaders. According to the reports, the delegation included Malcolm Hoenlin, an associate of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who came directly from there to Jerusalem.

In the background of contacts discussing reconciliation between Israel and Turkey, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with senior level representatives of the American Jewish community.

According to the reports in Turkey, the participants included members of leading American Jewish organizations in the United States including the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the Anti-Defamation League and AIPAC. The meeting took place in the Cankaya Mansion in Ankara, which is the residence of the Turkish Prime Minister.

Malcolm Hoenlin, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and an associate of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, came from the meeting in Turkey directly to Jerusalem. It is said that there has not been a meeting like this in the past seven years.
