Bialik’s name recently came up as a possible torch lighter nominee for this year’s Independence Day ceremony on Mount Herzl. For the second year in a row, one of the 12 torch lighter spots is being reserved for Jewish people who do not live in Israel. In a Facebook post, Bialik said that she was honored that her name had come up as a possible torch lighter for the category after the Israeli Diaspora Affairs Ministry asked the public to suggest possible candidates. “If you’d like to nominate me, I would appreciate that!” she wrote. “I would be unbelievably honored to even be nominated as a candidate for this tremendous honor!”
