Ministry of Environmental Protection asserted that Netanya’s coasts are the cleanest in Israel.  A senior official of Netanya municipality said in this context that “the Netanya municipality invested heavily in its coasts and beaches so that the public could enjoy a clean environment. Throughout the year we got high scores from the Ministry of Environmental Protection.”

In this regard it should be noted that several months ago Netanya’s beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag label. These beaches include Sanz Beach, Ha’onot Beach, Amphi Beach, Herzl Beach, Sironit North Beach, Sironit South Beach, Lagoon Beach, Poleg Beach.

The international, voluntary Blue Flag program works toward the sustainable development of beaches and marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, safety, and other services. Some 3,900 beaches and marinas in 46 countries across the globe have been awarded the Blue Flag.

Netanay’s Mayor Miriam Feirberg Ikar said in this context “I am proud of the decision to give Netanya’s coastal line the Blue Flag award for the second time. Netanya is blessed with magnificent coastal strip which is a major tourist attraction.”
