Salah al–Bardawil, a senior Hamas official, admitted in a televised interview (Wednesday) that 50 out of the 62 Palestinian protesters killed in the mass protests in Gaza on Monday and Tuesday were members of the terrorist organization.
“In the last round of confrontations,” Bardawil said, “if 62 people were martyred, 50 of them were Hamas.” Bardawil was interviewed by the private Palestinian news outlet Baladna TV.
Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus, the International Spokesman of the IDF, posted a clip of the interview onto his Twitter page. Conricus wrote that in the video, Bardwil “sets the record straight on who was killed in the last Hamas-orchestrated riot”, adding that it was proof that “this was no peaceful protest.”

Bardawi’s admission reinforces Israel’s claim that Hamas was using the violent protests to justify further attacks on Israel while taking advantage of the residents of Gaza to advance their own agenda.
The IDF said yesterday that they believed that at least 24 of the Palestinians killed in the protests were Hamas activists. According to the IDF’s official Twitter page, “IDF and ISA inquiries reveal that at least 24 terrorists with documented terror backgrounds were killed during the violent riots along the Gaza border on Monday.”
