At the beginning of the week, a senior IDF source said that the military is taking precautions to prevent Palestinians from entering Israel by deploying security forces to the area. Furthermore, the IDF released a video clip asking Gazans to refrain from approaching the border fence in Arabic.

According to the Palestinian organizers, however, demonstrators are not expected to march towards the fence, and their focus is on bringing families, young people, women and children to set up tents about half a kilometer from the border and avoiding confrontation with Israeli security forces. The event is expected to last for a month and a half, despite fears of violence erupting.
