Israel will not return the bodies of two Hamas terrorists who were eliminated in Friday’s border clashes until the terrorist group releases the Israeli citizens and bodies of the fallen IDF soldiers that are being held in the coastal enclave, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories stated on Sunday.

Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Major General Yoav Mordechai stated on Sunday that Israel will not release the bodies of the terrorists who were eliminated on Friday in the Gaza border clashes until Hamas returns the Israeli citizens and bodies of the fallen IDF soldiers that are being held in the coastal enclave.
In a Facebook post on the COGAT’s Arabic-language page, Mordechai wrote that burying the dead is an important value in both Judaism and Islam. “Israel will not rest and the residents of Gaza will not know peace until the Israelis are returned from Gaza and our fallen soldiers are brought to rest in Israel,” he wrote.
“The bodies of Mosa’ab Salol, a Hamas terrorist from Zo’ida, and Muhammad Rahmi—terrorists armed with firearms and a bomb who tried to carry out a terror attack in Israel two days ago (30/03)—have joined the 24 other bodies that Israel has been holding since Operation Protective Edge and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad tunnel explosion in our territory in October 2017,” Mordechai added.
“Hamas is taking away your right to mourn your children,” Mordechai said, turning to the Palestinians in Gaza. “The Hamas terrorist group in Gaza cares neither about the living nor the dead.”
On Saturday, the IDF said that most of the Palestinians who were killed in Gaza on Friday were “known terrorists with track records of terrorist activity.”
