A movie theater in the Palestinian city of Ramallah has decided to refrain from screening this month’s #1 movie around the world, Wonder Woman, which stars Israeli model and actress Gal Gadot for what appear to be politically motivated reasons. The IDF’s Major General Yoav Mordechai said the boycott “shows weakness and fear.”

After Lebanon decided to ban the new superhero film Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, a cinema in Ramallah has now chosen not to screen the film, which has become a global hit.

The IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Yoav (Poli) Mordechai, posted on his Facebook page in Arabic that the movie theater Berg Palestine in the city of Ramallah decided to refrain from screening the film for what appear to be political reasons.

“It appears that at the Berg Palestine theater in Ramallah, they are afraid that the audience will enjoy the excellent movie Wonder Woman and cannot separate politics from an American film,” Mordechai wrote.

“Boycotting the film only shows weakness and fear,” added Mordechai. “Those who are sure of themselves are not afraid of movies – even if they star Wonder Woman!”
