The IDF attacked 50 Iranian targets in 16 locations in Syria in retaliation for Thursday’s rocket attack, reportedly killing 27 supporters of the Assad regime. The Israeli security cabinet is satisfied with the massive operation and said Iran got the message. Israel’s Defense Minister warned: “We always have to be on guard.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Saturday that at least 27 supporters of the Assad regime were killed in an Israeli strike in Syria on Thursday. The war monitor added that 25 were foreign fighters, including 11 Iranians.

The initial report, which did not include the number of Iranian casualties, was updated “due to the death of wounded or missing persons whose deaths have been confirmed,” the observatory’s director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

In retaliation for Iran’s rocket attack, about 50 Iranian targets in Syria were attacked by IDF forces on Thursday. Iranian intelligence positions, outposts, headquarters and equipment storage units were hit in 16 different locations across the country.

The Israeli military stated that the Israeli Air Force strikes severely weakened Iran’s military infrastructure in Syria, crowning the air raids “a great success.”

The Israeli security cabinet estimates that the recent IDF activity in the area made it clear to the Iranians that they do not have enough operational resources to deal with the superiority of the IDF.

The cabinet also pointed out that Iran’s agenda has changed following Trump’s decision to withdraw from the nuclear agreement. The Iranians must deal with the consequences of the American withdrawal and the pressure that will be exerted on them.

Another reason for the change is the fact that Iran is now isolated from the world in everything related to Syria, and the international community’s support for the Israeli airstrikes in the Arab country further stressed Iran’s isolation.

“We cannot be arrogant,” Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said during Friday’s visit in Golan Heights. “The IDF was alert, active and did what had to be done. That said, nothing is guaranteed and we always have to be on guard.”

“Throw the Iranians out, do away with Qassem Suleimani and the Quds Force,” Liberman added before sending a message to Syrian President Bashar Assad: “They are only hurting you, and all their presence will only bring problems and damage.”
