Amid the American efforts to mediate between Jerusalem and Beirut regarding the disputed maritime border, the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group released on Sunday evening a video in which it directly threatens Israel’s offshore gas fields. In the video, footage of Israel’s gas fields being targeted by missile systems is shown as excerpts from one of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s recent speeches is played in the background.
“If you [Israel] attack us, we will attack you. If you bomb us, we will bomb you,” Nasrallah said in the speech. “I promise you, within a few hours, it [the gas field] will stop working.”
Last week, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Beirut regarding the tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border. Aoun stated that Lebanon is committed to preserving the peace along the border and that he is urging Washington to prevent Israel from further violating his country’s sovereignty.
