Thousands of protesters have gathered in front of the US embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, to protest the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Local security forces are using means of riot dispersal, including tear gas and water cannons.
The protesters, covered in Palestinian flags, lit fires in the streets and threw stones and objects at the security forces. The police set up barriers on the roads to prevent demonstrators from storming the American embassy.
