Following a call for a “Day of Rage” from Hamas, General Herzi Halevi, who serves as head of the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate, warned: “We are aware of the increased tensions and warn those who want to challenge us throughout the upcoming holiday season to reflect and to take our capabilities into consideration.”

At a conference attended by intelligence officials and important figures, such as former Chief of Staff Ehud Barak, ahead of Israel’s 70th Independence Day, Halevi also stated that “these challenging times emphasize the need for centralization of knowledge and intelligence and the importance of cooperation between elaborate intelligence and highly skilled operational capabilities.”

Furthermore, in regard to Israel’s intelligence infrastructure, which he referred to as a state asset, Halevi said that “there are nearly 13,000 days of intelligence gathered together in this room. The combined operational efforts and intelligence superiority are the IDF’s secret to success.” The general also added that “as tensions are on the rise with Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the versatile dynamic in our northern border, I recommend to anyone thinking of taking actions against us during the upcoming holiday season to take his actions into serious consideration.”

This upcoming Friday, Hamas has called for a “Day of Rage” in the vicinity of the Gaza border, during which riots may be expected, and the IDF has warned Gazans to avoid the area so as avoid casualties.
