The IDF on Thursday stated that Israel will not allow the Red Crescent to search for the missing Islamic Jihad terrorists who were buried under a tunnel in Monday’s blast in the security perimeter near the border unless progress is made on the issue of the Israeli soldiers and citizens held captive in Gaza.
This statement was made during a conversation between IDF Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai, the Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories, and Jacques De Maio, the head of the International Red Cross delegation to Israel.
Earlier, the family of IDF officer Hadar Goldin, whose body has been kept by Hamas since Operation Protective Edge in 2014, urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to demand information about the fate of the missing Israelis in response to humanitarian requests on the Palestinian side.
“Fulfilling Hamas’ request would be morally wrong and a sign of political weakness,” said the Goldin family.
