Violent confrontations erupted when IDF forces entered the Al Amari refugee camp near Ramallah in the West Bank in an attempt to arrest the murderer of Sergeant Ronen Lubarsky, Palestinian media reported on Monday.

According to the reports, some 30 military vehicles arrived at the camp early morning. The IDF soldiers used riot dispersal measures after residents of the camp began throwing Molotov cocktails and stones. Five Palestinians were reportedly injured and seven more were arrested and taken in for questioning.

On Thursday night, the elite IDF unit Duvdevan arrived at the Al-Am’ari refugee to arrest suspected terrorists. There, the soldiers were met by a crowd of Palestinians, including gunmen, who approached the moving vehicle, hurling stones and explosives at it.

Staff Sergeant Ronen Lubarsky was critically injured when a Palestinian threw a large marble slab from the third floor of a building. He was taken to the intensive care at a local hospital and was pronounced dead from his wounds two days later.
