It was cleared for publication Wednesday that the two IDF soldiers who were killed when their vehicle overturned during a military drill last night were First Lieutenant Avshalom Armoni and Staff Sergeant Avinoam David Cohen. In the crash, four other IDF soldiers were injured.

The names of the two IDF soldiers who were killed late Tuesday night in northern Israel have been released: First Lieutenant Avshalom Armoni of Beit Horon and Staff Sergeant Avinoam David Cohen of Jerusalem. The IDF investigation into the crash that claimed their lives is still underway.
During a military drill last night, the self-propelled armored vehicle in which Armoni and Cohen were traveling overturned. Four other soldiers who were also in the vehicle were injured. Two are in critical condition while the others sustained minor injuries. They were evacuated to Ziv Medical Center in Safed.

The Hesder Yeshiva Union released a statement following the news of the crash. “The union mourns the loss of the IDF soldiers who were killed last night as they fulfilled their duties and among them were our student from Yeshivat Otniel, IDF officer Avshalom Armoni, may his memory be a blessing, and Yeshivat Elon Moreh student Sergeant Avinoam David Cohen, may his memory be a blessing,” the statement read. “Our heart is with the dear families.”
