This week, the IDF’s Kirya base in Tel Aviv was the scene of a joint Israel Police and IDF special forces exercise. The drill simulated a situation in which terrorists infiltrated the base and took hostages.
IDF and Israel Police special forces participated in an exercise at the Kirya simulating a kidnapping and hostage situation at the military base. The drill was carried out because the IDF and Israeli security establishment believe that the base, located in the heart of Tel Aviv, could be targeted by terrorists due to its strategic value.
Footage released by the IDF spokesperson shows “terrorists” arriving at the base, shooting everyone in sight and then barricading themselves in a building with hostages. Israel Police special forces commanders then try to carry out negotiations with the terrorists before soldiers and officers storm the building and neutralize them.
