An explosion in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria on Saturday afternoon killed a police officer and injured four other people, Egypt’s Interior Ministry said.
Egyptian officials said the explosion near the Tolip Hotel was an assassination attempt against the city’s head of security, whose motorcade was nearby. According to eye-witnesses, local police and army forces have shut down the area.
