The Islamic State on Thursday released an audio recording of its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The exact date of the 46-minute recording is not clear, though al-Baghdadi does mention in it North Korea’s recent threats towards the US.

He also urges his followers to continue to carry out terror attacks and fight against “non-believers.”

This is al-Baghdadi’s first recorded speech since November 2016, and it comes amid growing speculation over his fate.

In December, Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook told CNN al-Baghdadi was probably “alive and still leading.”
