As temperatures continue to drop, Syrians living in the besieged city of Homs are finding it hard to purchase warm clothes. As a solution, locals have begun to sew clothes out of blankets provided by the UN.
“Our lives have become increasingly hard over the last couple of years,” a local tailor said. “People bring their blankets to turn them into clothes. Some ask for gloves, others for jackets and pajamas.”
“They (the UN) give us blankets for sleeping, but it’s only useful during the night,” he added. “What about the rest of the day?”
