Some 100,000 Jewish people flocked to Jerusalem’s Western Wall on Monday morning for the traditional priestly blessing ceremony.

Among those attending the ceremony were Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel Yitzhak Yosef, Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel David Lau and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

The mass priestly blessing ceremony is held twice a year, during Passover and Sukkot. Today, the ceremony was held under heavy security amid the heighten Israeli-Palestinian tensions following the Gaza border protests, which led to the deaths of 17 Palestinians. In addition, an Israeli man was murdered last month in Jerusalem’s Old City by a Palestinian terrorist.
