Authorities fear for safety of 19-year-old hiker who went missing in Judean Desert

Rescue teams have been searching the Judean Desert area for 19-year-old Yehuda Gidron, an experienced hiker who hasn’t contacted his family since Thursday evening.

Rescue teams are conducting extensive searches for a 19-year-old man who went missing while hiking in the Judean Desert.

Yehuda Gidron, an experienced hiker, arrived in the area around 2 p.m. on Thursday. At about 9 p.m., he called his father and told him he was making his way to a stream. As of now, the search crews are not sure of the exact location Gidron was traveling in.

The searches are currently focused on the Ein Gedi area. The crews are using vehicles and drones to help them, though some are searching on foot.
