A four-year-old child with special needs was left alone on his school ride for seven hours. Police have arrested the child’s aide, who was supposed to be with him on the ride.
When the boy’s father came to pick him up from kindergarten, the teacher told him his son hadn’t shown up. He then called his wife and asked her why she hadn’t sent him to kindergarten in the morning. “I told him that I did,” the boy’s mother told Channel 2 News. “Then the teacher called me and I just started to scream.”
When the boy was finally found on the ride, he was “very scared,” according to the boy’s father. “He wouldn’t talk to me about that day,” his mother said. “Nobody will tell me what really happened there.”
The mother added that she had complained about the van driver several times. “I told them he shouldn’t be there, he was always yelling at everybody,” she said. “I wasn’t the only parent who complained but no one listened.”
The city of Rehovot stated in response that the driver and the boy’s aide have both been fired.
