Shaare Zedek Medical Center said on Monday that the condition of Asher Elmaliach, the security guard who was critically injured in a stabbing attack last month, has significantly improved.  Elmaliach is now breathing on his own and communicating with medical staff.

Elmaliach, 46, was stabbed near the central bus station in Jerusalem in December. The terrorist, a Nablus resident, fled the scene and was neutralized by an Israeli citizen who noticed the blood stains on his clothes. He was later charged with attempted murder and for entering Israeli illegally. The prosecution stated in the indictment that the terrorist’s motivation for the attack was US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
