US President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace envoy visited Israel’s border with Gaza today and even toured a Hamas terror tunnel on Sunday. After the tour, Jason Greenblatt slammed Hamas over Twitter, accusing the group of wasting resources on tunnels.
Watch: Greenblatt tours Israeli-Gazan border
Jason Greenblatt, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, toured the Israeli-Gaza border on Sunday with Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories Yoav Mordechai and other military officials. Mordechai briefed Greenblatt on the recent IDF activities that destroyed Hamas terror tunnels.
Greenblatt and the senior IDF officials even entered a Hamas terror tunnel that was recently discovered by the Israeli military. “Hamas wastes resources on tunnels & rockets to attack Israel, instead of helping the people of Gaza by getting the lights on, the water flowing & the economy growing,” the senior US official wrote on Twitter after the tour. “Hamas spews hateful rhetoric & foments a vicious cycle of violence. Gaza deserves better!”

Mordechai condemned Hamas on his Arabic-language Facebook page after the meeting with Greenblatt. “The difficult situation in Gaza is the result of the policy that the Hamas terrorist organization is leading- that instead of investing in the population, it is investing in the death tunnels and in producing weapons,” he wrote. “This is the result of the policy of the Palestinian Authority, which isn’t investing enough in the [Gaza] Strip and imposing sanctions on the residents there. I hope the international community and the Palestinians understand this.”

Last week, Greenblatt met with the parents of two fallen IDF soldiers whose bodies are being held by Hamas and the families of two Israeli citizens who are also being held captive by the terrorist group. The meeting took place in Washington. Greenblatt posted pictures of himself with the Israeli families on Twitter and slammed Hamas. “These families are suffering unbearable pain as a result the shameful, despicable acts of Hamas. All Israelis must be returned & I pray for their families,” he wrote.
