As tensions in southern Israel continue to rise, the IDF Spokesperson’s Arabic division on Tuesday urged Gaza’s citizens to avoid participating in the planned mass march along the border on Friday. Israel warned civilians that Hamas is using funds to prepare for a “march of chaos” instead resolving the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip

Meanwhile, the IDF has deployed hundreds of additional troops along the Gaza Strip border, as officials expressed fears that the protest would serve as a diversion to carry out terror attacks. On Tuesday, Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman toured the area together with IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot.

“I think the military is well prepared, we are ready for any scenario,” Liberman said on Tuesday. “We are doing everything so that this holiday will pass peacefully, in security and happiness.”

As previously reported by JOL, Hamas has recently released a video showing parts of its large-scale military drill in Gaza, ahead of Friday’s tensions. In the footage, members of the terrorist organization are seen practicing scenarios such as hijacking an Israeli tank and kidnapping an IDF soldier after emerging from a tunnel.

“We’re prepared for any scenario,” said Abu Obeida, a spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam. “We are warning the Zionists against making stupid moves against our people – if they do, they’ll pay a heavy price for it.”
