Hit and Run event in the north: a 55 year old pedestrian was moderately wounded this evening (Monday), after being hit by a car near Kfar Manda, in the lower Galilee. The driver fled the scene.

Magen David Adom teams arrived at the accident site, gave the woman medical treatment, and evacuated her to Rambam hospital in Haifa with head injuries.

The event started when Misgav station policemen, operating law enforcement in the village, arrived to the village and went to a vehicle that parked at the road side at the entrance to the village. The driver started driving back and forth, endangering the police, who were forced to use pepper spray against him.

The driver fled and allegedly hurt the pedestrian, a resident of one of the neighboring villages. The police search continues and includes a police helicopter.

Last week a 50 year old man was killed and a 13 year old boy who was with him was seriously injured, after their car turned over near Yodfat intersection. Initial investigation of the police revealed that the dead driver fled from another car which was chasing him.

The incident started after a Jewish lawyer and his Arab client went into Kfar Kokhav Abu Al-Hija near Shfaram. The two entered the village, escorted by a police car, so that the client could point out for the cops a house which was allegedly invaded into by illegal squatters.

Residents started gathering around, and in a short while a few vehicles arrived at the scene and a fight broke out. The police ordered the lawyer and his client to leave the area.

The two went into their car and started fleeing the area. One of the residents started chasing them, and lost control of his car near the Yodfat intersection. Emergency services which arrived at the scene performed resuscitation at the driver, but eventually were forced to confirm his death. The teen was evacuated to the Rambam hospital in Haifa.
