A Palestinian man carrying a pipe bomb was arrested on Wednesday afternoon outside the military court near the Salim village in the West Bank. The man had hidden the device under his clothes.
The area near the court has been sealed off and bomb disposal experts are at the scene. Israel Border Police and IDF Military Police Corps officers have taken the suspect in for questioning.
In December, two separate incidents in which Palestinians brought pipe bombs to the same military court occurred. In both cases, the officers at the scene thought that the Palestinians appeared suspicious and therefore searched them. During the inspections, the officers found the devices under the suspects’ clothes.
In recent weeks, Israel has witnessed an increase in terror attacks and attempted attacks in the West Bank area. On Monday, Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal was murdered by an Israeli Arab terrorist in Ariel. The terrorist fled the scene and Israeli security forces are still trying to locate him.
