A police officer is suspected of robbing a Tel Aviv apartment after presenting a fake search warrant.
The alleged robbery occurred six weeks ago. After the officer was let into the apartment, he asked the owner if there were large sums of money in it. The owner showed him $10,000 in bills, which the officer then allegedly stole and put in a bag.
The officer was arrested Thursday after the police set up a special team to investigate the incident. A court has extended his arrest by five days.
The suspect’s lawyer stated that his client was “surprised” by his arrest and is denying the allegations against him.
