Today (Wednesday), it was revealed that the Israeli Health Ministry is expected to recommend the removal of one of the two active ingredients in cannabis from the list of dangerous drugs, known as Cannabidiol (CBD).
Unlike the second active substance in cannabis, known as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD isn’t a psychoactive substance. Although CBD isn’t known to have intoxicating effects, it is effective in treating pain, reducing anxieties, treating nausea, treating children with epilepsy. There are also studies that discovered that it may be helpful in treating cancerous tumors.
CBD is legal in the European Union (except Slovakia), Canada and some states in the US, where there are products based on the cannabinoid such as creams, oils, pills and even mineral water. Today, only those with a full medical cannabis license may purchase such products in Israel.
