The long-anticipated express train line from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is expected to become fully operational in March, Israel’s Transport Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday.
The new line should cover the 54-km distance in 28 minutes, significantly shortening the amount of time it currently takes to travel between the two biggest Israeli cities. The existing train line, which goes around the mountains, gets from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in an hour and a half.
According to Israel News Company, the line will be free of charge for the first three months.
