After Israel Police alerted the residents of Beersheba of a potential “security incident” on Thursday, two suspects were arrested near a city mall after a large-scale manhunt. Local authorities announced that residents may return to their daily routine.
The high alert announced in Beersheba earlier on Thursday has been diffused after two suspects were arrested near a shopping mall in the city. The Israel Police has carried out a two-hour manhunt to capture the suspects, a Palestinian and an Israeli Bedouin who reportedly drove him to the area.
The two men were taken into questioning. Meanwhile, the Israel Police said it is reinforcing its forces ahead of Passover and the increased tensions in the area. During the past week, Israel has arrested 11 Palestinians who crossed the Gaza border fence. In addition, IDF forces were deployed near Gaza ahead of the planned march of thousands of Palestinians towards the border fence on Friday.
