Two teenagers were swept deep into the Sea of Galilee on a sea mattress due to strong winds. A water scooter rider who spotted one of them trying to swim back rescued him and rescue forces are searching for his friend, who is still missing.
Today (Wednesday), Search and Rescue forces are looking for a 17-year-old boy and a man in his twenties who were swept away deep into the Sea of Galilee on inflatable sea mattresses in two separate incidents due to strong winds. The man’s girlfriend and the boy’s friend, who were also swept away, were rescued by civilians on water scooters.
Police issued a warning from entering the Sea of Galilee. “Strong eastern winds have been hitting the Sea of Galilee region since the early hours of the morning,” the statement read. “During these hours bathing and staying deep in the water is dangerous…We call upon the vacationers on the shores of the Sea of Galilee to obey the instructions of the rescue services and to refrain from entering the beaches without rescue services.”
