“Hodaya was a graceful and modest girl,” Rafi Asulin said as he eulogized his niece, Hodaya Nechama Asulin, who succumbed Wednesday morning to the injuries she suffered during a 2011 terror attack. Ever since the Jerusalem International Convention Center bombing, she had been in a coma. Two weeks ago, her medical situation began to deteriorate.
Friends and family began to gather at the Asulin family home in Mevo Horon today. “The family did a courageous thing after the hospitals said that they don’t think it’s right to continue to treat her,” Hodaya’s aunt explained. “They decided that Hodaya’s place was at home and brought her there [so that she could be near] her six brothers and established a small hospital. The mother became the manager of the hospital and the home life started to revolve around her [Hodaya].”
Earlier today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his condolences to the Asulin family: “The entire Israeli nation is hugging and supporting the family, who surrounded Hodaya with love and devotion since the terrible terror attack. May her memory be a blessing and cherished in our hearts forever.”
