History for Israeli sport: Head coach David Blatt, who led Maccabbi Tel Aviv to a Euroleague Championship just this year, will become Israel’s first coach in the NBA.

Blatt came to an agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers according to which he will serve as head coach for the next four years – the contract is worth $20 million according to Yahoo Sports. Blatt will also be the first coach to make the transition from European coach directly to NBA head coach.

Cleveland moved quickly to sign Blatt who was also in negotiations with the Golden State Warriors. According to reports, Blatt met with team representatives on Thursday night, and made his decision then.
