Today (Friday), senior-level Hamas member in Gaza Mahmoud al-Zahar stated that his organization rejects Israel’s ultimatum regarding the missing Islamic Jihad terrorists.
His statement was made after the IDF Coordinator of Government Activity in the Territories told the Red Crescent that Israel will not permit the inclusion of the security perimeter near the border fence in the search area for the terrorists, who were buried under the tunnel blown up by the IDF several days ago, unless information is provided on the missing Israelis in Gaza. “We will not leave them behind and we will not rest,” the terrorist organizations stated. “We will do everything to bring them back.”

Meanwhile, the IDF is carrying out a series of measures both in northern Israel and along the Gaza border due to fears of retaliation for the destruction of the tunnel and the attack in Syria, attributed to Israel by foreign sources. The measures include aspects of defense and rapid response because Israel is concerned that an attempt will be made to violate its sovereignty on one of the fronts.
As reported this week by JOL, a senior-level source in the IDF Southern Command clarified that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad will find it difficult to hold back. “We must beware of complacency and of a feeling of success,” the source stated. “We are prepared with high readiness- there can be an incident at any moment. (We need) constant vigilance- anyone who acts against us and against our sovereignty will pay a heavy price.”
