Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said Wednesday that he has instructed the security forces to use “all the force necessary” to defeat the terrorist groups in Sinai within three months. On Friday, Egypt witnessed its deadliest terror attack when terrorists stormed a mosque in the Sinai Peninsula after setting off a bomb, murdering over 300 people.
During a speech honoring the birthday of the Prophet Muḥammad, which will be celebrated tomorrow, Sisi turned to the Egyptian people and explained his decision. “[Look] at how terrorism has caused chaos,” he said. “Look at what is happening in Syria, Somalia, Libya and Iraq.”
“Syria needs $250 billion in order to rehabilitate [itself],” he added. “This isn’t logical. Within three months, we will fight with all our might and achieve security.”
Twenty-seven of the 305 people who were murdered on Friday were children. According to eye-witnesses, the terrorists were waving ISIS flags during the attack. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
