Former US President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, are in advanced talks with Netflix about producing a series of shows, the New York Times reported on Friday. The potential deal is said to involve the Obama couple producing content that would be available only on the streaming service for its millions of subscribers worldwide.
The New York Times report stressed that the Obamas do not intend to use the shows to directly comment on the current US leadership. Instead, the shows will apparently deal with inspiring stories. Eric Schultz, the former president’s senior aide, told the newspaper: “President and Mrs. Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire. Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better.”
“As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories,” he added.
