Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Jordan on Friday, the first destination on his current tour of the Middle East. In Amman, Modi discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and other topics with Jordanian King Abdullah II.

On Saturday, Modi will travel to the West Bank, becoming the first Indian prime minister to visit Ramallah. In a tweet on Thursday, Modi said that he is looking forward to meeting with Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirming India’s support for the Palestinians people.

Modi made history last year when he became the first sitting Indian prime minister to visit Israel. Aside from meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Modi visited Yad Vashem, Mt. Herzl and the Indian Cemetery in Haifa during his three-day trip. He even attended an event in Tel Aviv for the local Indian community.

Last month, Netanyahu was in India to mark a quarter century of Israeli-Indian diplomatic relations. While in India, Netanyahu signed a series of agreements aimed at advancing the cooperation between the two countries. Netanyahu said that the visit “heralds the flourishing” of the Israeli-Indian friendship.
