During a meeting held in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that Iran’s economy and people will not be affected by the possible American withdrawal from the JCPOA, the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany), according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.
According to Rouhani, if the US withdraws from the agreement, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization will react in various ways.
Earlier this month, Rouhani delivered a speech in which he bragged about the country’s nuclear achievements. The Iranian leader also warned that US President Donald Trump “would regret” pulling out of the nuclear agreement, threatening that Tehran’s response would be “more serious than imagined.”
“Some people think that our nuclear activities slowed down in my term, but the truth is that our nuclear industry is advancing faster [than expected] and with a greater degree of precision capability,” he added.
