A knife-wielding terrorist fatally stabbed a passerby and injured four others in central Paris on Saturday. Two of the victims are in critical condition. They are being treated at George Pompidou Hospital. The other two victims suffered minor injuries.
ISIS, through its official Amaq News Agency, claimed responsibility for the attack a few hours after it took place. According to the intelligence group SITE, the murderous terrorist group’s news agency said that the attack was committed by a “soldier of the Islamic State.”
On Sunday, French judicial sources stated that the terrorist has been identified as a young man who was born in the Russian republic of Chechnya. The sources added that the terrorist’s parents have been taken in for questioning.
Eye-witnesses stated that pedestrians on the 2nd arrondissement of Paris ran into nearby stores as the terrorist shouted “Allahu Akbar” and stabbed the victims. The terrorist was eliminated at the scene by police officers after he threatened to stab them.
French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb took to Twitter to condemn the attack and offer his prayers to the victims. “I salute the police force for its quick response and neutralization of the terrorist,” he wrote. “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this evil attack.” In an earlier tweet, Collomb posted pictures of him with the police officers who eliminated the terrorist.
Je retrouve à l’hôpital Georges Pompidou les policiers qui ont neutralisé en quelques minutes l’assaillant de la rue #Monsigny.
