A mere 44% of Americans support US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, a poll conducted by CNN has found.
Even fewer, 36%, said they believe the US embassy should move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The results of the poll, which were released a day after the UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to reject the US decision, indicate that the issue is a partisan one; 79% of Republicans supported the move while 71% of Democrats did not.
Two thirds of the participants said the US should not take a side in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
