Following an exchange between Kardashian-West’s husband, Kanye, and the president, she was invited to the White House to lobby the president on issues of importance to her.

US President Donald Trump met with reality television personality Kim Kardashian-West in the Oval Office this week, where the two discussed prison reform as well as clemency for Alice Marie Johnson, a great-grandmother who is serving a life sentence on drug charges. Johnson was convicted of a non-violent first-time drug offense and has been serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole since.
“If you think about a decision that you’ve made in your life and you get life without the possibility of parole for your first-time nonviolent offense, there’s just something so wrong with that,” Kardashian-West stated in a profile produced by Mic. Kardashian-West tweeted about Johnson before her meeting with the president, stating “today is for you.”
Happy Birthday Alice Marie Johnson. Today is for you
