Media sources in Pyongyang have reported that the country’s leader, Kim Jong-un, has embarked on a diplomatic visit to Beijing. If true, this is Kim’s first diplomatic visit since he succeeded his late father in 2011.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reportedly embarked on a secret visit to China, marking his first diplomatic visit since he took power in 2011.
According to reports, a train was spotted in Beijing that resembled the one used in the past by Kim Jong-il, the current leader’s late father and predecessor, in his overseas visits. North Korean media did not report how long Kim’s visit will be and who he is expected to meet there.
Earlier on Monday, a senior North Korean official said the international community is showing support for the country’s new, peaceful policy toward South Korea. “Nothing will stand in the way of dialogue in the Korean Peninsula,” he said. “Now it’s time to put an end to the hostile policy of the United States and to its sanctions.”
