Washington is seriously considering the military options on the table to halt the North Korean missile and nuclear programs, the Telegraph reported yesterday. The British newspaper cited “well-placed” sources, one of whom said that the Pentagon wants to “punch the North Koreans in the nose” so that they know that the United States is serious.

The United States is preparing for a military attack on North Korea, the British Telegraph newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing “well-placed sources.” According to the report, the White House may decide to destroy North Korean launch sites before they are used to test missiles or target weapons arsenals.
“The Pentagon is trying to find options that would allow them to punch the North Koreans in the nose – get their attention and show that we’re serious,” one source was quoted as saying. He also said that the US increased its preparations for such an attack in the past few months and is seriously considering the military options that could resolve the crisis between the two nations.
Earlier this week, the White House released its national security strategy. In the document, the Trump administration accused North Korea of “pursuing chemical and biological weapons which could also be delivered by missile.”
“North Korea is ruled as a ruthless dictatorship without regard for human dignity,” the document continues. “For more than 25 years, it has pursued nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles in defiance of every commitment it has made. Today, these missiles and weapons threaten the United States and our allies.”
