The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday banned Russia from participating in the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea over allegations of state-sponsored doping.

IOC President Thomas Bach announced the decision in a press conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, calling Russia’s conduct “an unprecedented attack on the integrity of the Olympic Games.”

Some Russian athletes will be able to participate if they are found to be “clean,” the IOC added, though they would compete under a neutral flag.
