A day after the deadly shooting at Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington, the local police department arrested a suspect last night (Saturday). According to the police department, 20-year-old Arcan Cetin of Oak Harbor fled the scene immediately after the shooting and was apprehended after a widespread manhunt.
On Friday, five people were shot dead at the mall, which is located about 65 kilometers (approximately 40 miles) north of Seattle. Initially, it was reported that the police are searching for a Hispanic male wearing a grey shirt. However, after the suspect was arrested, it was reported that Cetin is a Turkish immigrant who is a legal permanent resident of the U.S.
According to Lieutenant Mike Hawley of the local sheriff’s office, Cetin was not armed at the time of the arrest. Hawley described the suspect as being “kind of zombie-like” during his arrest as he froze and did not try to flee the scene. In addition, Hawley said that Cetin complied with the arresting officers’ orders.
Also last night, 8 people were wounded in a shooting in East Baltimore, Maryland. As reported earlier by JOL, a 3-year-old girl is among the wounded. Police are currently searching for 3 suspects who are believed to still be armed.
