US President Donald Trump suggested over Twitter on Thursday that he was the one responsible for the recent thawing of diplomatic tensions between South Korea and its northern neighbor. “Does anybody really believe that talks and dialogue would be going on between North and South Korea right now if I wasn’t firm,” he wrote on Twitter.

After he took credit earlier this week for 2017 being the safest year for commercial air travel in America, US President Donald Trump attributed another development to himself over Twitter. On Thursday, Trump suggested that he was responsible for the recent thawing of diplomatic tensions between the Koreas.

“With all of the failed ‘experts’ weighing in, does anybody really believe that talks and dialogue would be going on between North and South Korea right now if I wasn’t firm, strong and willing to commit our total ‘might’ against the North,” Trump wrote. “Fools, but talks are a good thing!”

As reported previously by JerusalemOnline, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un ordered that the direct communication line between the Koreas be reopened. Kim’s directive came after South Korea’s unification minister offered to hold talks with Pyongyang on January 9 ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympics. The leader of the pariah state said earlier this week that his country is “considering the possibility” of participating in the upcoming games, which will be held in the South.
