During a White House Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said he intends to change the current immigration policy, claiming it allowed the Manhattan terrorist to enter the country. “We’re going to quickly as possible get rid of chain migration and move to a merit-based system,” he said.
“Today we mourn the horrifying terrorist attack in New York City, just blocks away from the site of the World Trade Center,” said Trump. “I am today starting the process of terminating the diversity lottery program. I am going to ask Congress to immediately initiate work to get rid of this program, diversity lottery, diversity lottery. Sounds nice, it is not nice, it is not good. It hasn’t been good and we have been against it.”

Trump said he is considering sending the terrorist, 29-year-old Uzbek national Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, to the American prison facility at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. According to the US State Department, the terrorist is married and a father of three children. He was indeed legally residing in the country and obtained a Green Card with the Diversity Visa Lottery Program.
Saipov murdered eight people and injured 11 others in the deadly terror attack. The terrorist drove a rental pickup truck onto a populated bike path, striking pedestrians and cyclists, before crashing into a school bus. According to the NYPD, he left a note pledging his allegiance to ISIS. The terrorist was shot by police and is now being hospitalized under heavy security.
