Watch: Manhattan terrorist’s arrest
The investigation into the Tuesday afternoon pickup truck-ramming attack in Manhattan, which claimed the lives of eight people and injured another 11, continues. Hours after the terror attack, footage of the terrorist’s arrest was released. In the video, 29-year-old Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov is seen exiting the pickup truck in an attempt to flee the scene before police officers apprehend him. According to media outlets across the US, Saipov left behind a note in which he declared allegiance to ISIS.
Saipov was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and had been living in the US since 2010 with his wife and three children. He recently moved to New Jersey, which is where he rented the pickup truck used in the terror attack. A source involved in the investigation told the AP news agency that Saipov rented the truck about an hour before the terror attack.

According to reports, Saipov was shot in the abdomen by an officer at the scene and transported to a hospital for media care. He is expected to survive. Meanwhile, he is being kept under heavy security at the hospital.
The terror attack took place yesterday at around 3:05 PM (local time). Saipov drove the rental pickup truck on the Hudson River Greenway bike path near Chambers Street for about 10 blocks, hitting pedestrians and cyclists.
Eye-witnesses claimed that the terrorist also opened fire from inside the truck. However, police officials clarified that Saipov had only a pellet gun and a paintball gun in his possession. Fox News reported that eye-witnesses stated that Saipov shouted Allahu Akbar after exiting the vehicle.

“A vehicle drove straight down a bicycle path heading south in Manhattan just mowing everything down,” eye-witness Greg Ahl told CBS New York. “It looks like a vehicle drove down the bicycle path and ran everything over.”
