Today (Thursday), White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly responded to rumors that he is on his way out: “I’m not quitting today.”

“I’m not so frustrated in this job that I’m thinking of leaving,” Kelly said in his first press briefing since entering the position. “Unless things change, I’m not quitting, I’m not getting fired.” The retired Marine Corps general offered reporters to establish connections with “better sources.”

Kelly added that the job of chief of staff is the hardest and most important job he ever had. “I read in the paper,” Kelly said. “That I’ve been a failure at controlling the president or a failure at controlling his tweeting…I wasn’t brought to this job to control anything but the flow of information to our president so that he can make the best decisions.”

“The Fake News is at it again,” US President Donald Trump tweeted yesterday. “This time trying to hurt one of the finest people I know, General John Kelly, by saying he will soon be fired. This story is totally made up by the dishonest media. The Chief is doing a FANTASTIC job for me and, more importantly, for the USA!”
