According to the Washington Post, several White House officials confirmed on Friday that US President Donald Trump has decided to oust National Security Adviser General Herbert McMaster and is looking for potential replacements.

Trump is reportedly comfortable with ousting McMaster and is willing to take time executing the move because he wants to ensure that the three-star Army general is not humiliated and that there is a strong successor lined up.

US Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted on Friday that she spoke to both Trump and McMaster and that they have a good relationship. “There are no changes at the NSC,” she added.

On Tuesday, Trump fired US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson amid reported tensions between the two. Trump announced his decision to oust Tillerson in a tweet: “Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!”
